What is RECESS?

The Pitch

Support your fellow students as they compete for the chance turn their brilliant startup ideas into viable businesses. Watch as they go head-to-head against other teams from the region and make their pitch to a panel of esteemed judges. The winner will be flown out to the RECESS Field Trip in Los Angeles, where they will get the opportunity to pitch to some of the biggest VCs and investors in the nation.

The After Party

Work hard. Play hard. After the Regional Pitch Semi-Finals, celebrate the teams' success with a free concert featuring GoldLink with K Theory. Your student ID gets you priority entry. Don't miss your chance to catch one of the hottest names in music!

Things to know

Do I have to be a college student to attend?

No, but college students with ID will receive priority entry to the concert.

Is this an all-ages event?

You must be 18 years of age or older to attend.

Does the ticket cost any money?

Nope! It's free as long as you RSVP!

Am I guaranteed Entry with my RSVP?

We wish we could hook everyone up, however entry will be granted on a first come basis. RSVP does not guarantee entry.

Who's Pitching?

Three college teams who advanced from the Campus Qualifier rounds at each participating school in the region - CU Denver, CU Boulder, & University of Denver + 2-3 teams from the Capital Championship.

What is the Capital Championship?

CAPITAL Championship is a nationwide entrepreneurial tournament with a $250,000 cash prize. The tournament strengthens the startup community by offering exposure, networking, mentorship, and CASH to emerging entrepreneurs and seasoned venturists.
